Experiencing the last annual conference of ITMF in Mauritius, we attended this spectacle pageant this year in Shanghai. Based on the features of current situation in textile industry, ITMF this time chanted the slogan that ''the construction adaptation of global textile industry in the context of new technology revolution. ''What is meant is the global textile industry, nowadays, has been not only undergoing the updating of high-new technology, but facing various challenges about resources and environment, and the way to improve the traditional modules of production. Thus, it is inevitable for any country to have to encounter how to survive mutually, even if, maybe, achieve the win-win situation in the gloom of financial crisis. For the purpose of restoring the textile industry, the organizer, ITMF, was looking forward to deeply discussing the related issues, enforcing the mutual understanding, and promoting the cooperation over the 3-day meeting in the pearl of eastern China.
In the evening of 22nd October, the banquet for the opening was held in Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jinmao Tower which is the highest mansion in China. Mr. Du Yuzhou, the president of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), delivered the speech with enthusiasm and hospitably welcome all members of ITMF to Shanghai on the behalf of the host. He said, specifically, it was very meaningful for China to take place the ITMF annual conference 2009, because China textile industry was about to make full use of this opportunity to show the achievement since the reform and opening-up policy. Meanwhile, China could make clear that he is dedicating to regenerating the domestic construction of textile industry, and paying much more attention to intellectual property rights and environmental improvement.
The wonderful evening performance kicked off, then. No matter what the fashion show, or the dancing, or the onsite handwriting are, exactly, almost all details and ingredients that night were inundated with Chinese factors, such like the clothing in the form of Chinese historic building, the handwriting show with writing brush, and the actresses in Chinese traditional red dresses playing drums. All attendants were overwhelmed by the beauty of essence of China.
Over the delicious dinner, I was mainly in charge of accompanying Mr. Xu Wenying, the vice president of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) as the interpreter. When discussing with Mr. Terry Townsend, the executive director of International Cotton Advisory Committee, and Mr. Salvador Maluquer, the executive vice president of the Textile Industrial Association of Proceso Algodonero, Mr. Xu expressed the current situation of domestic textile industry and the confidence of industry update. He told the counterpart that the contradictory of demand and supply is becoming more and more serious in recent years. Many related plants closed down result from lacking the sense of innovation and advanced technology which the market needs, although it is no denying to be partly contributed to the worldwide economy at a low ebb. Only if the Chinese textile sector turns the module of development into the way to focus on the quality and efficiency, rather than on quantity, however, Chinese textile plants would surely survive and gain the long-term development. Apart from that, he also mentioned, what our textile companies urgently need is to notice Research and Development, especially the blended fabrics made by multiple fibers, regenerated fiber as well as new-tech fiber, and to emphasize on the independent innovation, construction optimization. Referring to the development of China, guests from western countries all marveled at the significant effort and were impressed by the rapid rate of urbanization.
In the last 3 days, all members with the president of ITMF, the president of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), the former German premier, and the American economist who got the Nobel Prize sit around and discussed the issues related with the current situation of international textile industry and the development direction in the future. Many representatives proposed dozens pieces of effective and reasonable advice, which would be very helpful and informative in the process of textile sector.
In the ending statement by Mr. Narin, he said that we members not only just do business, but aim to establish a ''living life''. He frankly acknowledged the crucial role Chinese textile industry plays. Besides, he also stressed all members of ITMF need to respect each other in marketing system, technology, and intellectual property, etc.
In my point of view, the annual conference of ITMF 2009 is a practical platform for everyone in textile sector to learn more, to cooperate more, to become successful more.
